Sprout

Every gardener knows that under the cloak of winter lies a miracle ... a seed waiting to sprout, a bulb opening to the light, a bud straining to unfurl. And the anticipation nurtures our dream.- Barbara Winkler

I can hear, underground, that sucking and sobbing,In my veins, in my bones I feel it,--The small water seeping upward,The tight grains parting at last. When sprouts break out,Slippery as fish,I quail, lean to beginnings, sheath-wet. - Theodore Roethke, Cuttings

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven -A time to give birth, and a time to die;A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
- Ecclesiastes, 3:1-2

All seed answer light, but the color is different. The plant reveals what is in the seed.- Ancient Egyptian Proverbs

Your illustration really brings those wonderful quotes to life. Your pretty green sprout is working her way to the light and therefore to life, I'd like to see what kind of plant, she turns out to be.
