Cold
The word cold reminds me of the times when I was a young girl experiencing cold rainy days with lots of thunder and lightning and would take so many hours before it stopped. My mother would always light a blessed palm tree that we have used during Palm Sunday of the Holy week. She said the smoke would send away evil spirits and the thunder and lightning. Brown out is already expected everytime it rains so hard and so we’ll all sit in one room. I would play with my two younger sisters or we’ll tell nonsense stories to each other. My mother will make noodles or spaghetti soup(or sotanghon soup with stir fried chicken pieces and some toasted paprika-my favorite). Sometimes my father will tell us funny jokes or he will turn the radio a bit louder so we can listen to the news. I forgot to say earlier that my father would say that St. Peter is playing bowling everytime the thunder strikes.
I wanted to skip IF this week but I just cannot do it because, I have not yet missed any week since I have started. This is a quick drawing but maybe I would add more characters later on if I would be well enough to do it. I still have headache and sore throat. Actually, it is cold out here.

I luv thunderstorms, personally. They are exciting and magical. Unless I am driving in a storm, then it's just dangerous.
I like the dull gray forms you used for the background, it rilly does enhance the colorful central portion where the three of you are sitting wearing pajamas.
Did the three of you always wear the same colored hair ribbons ?
:-)
I think sometimes we have worn the same colored ribbons. nice memories actually!
Isay, this is a lovely illustration. I do not like thunderstorms. When I was very small I lived on top of a hill. I wanted to go out and watch a storm. My Dad said to me "If that lightening hits you, you will sizzle up just like a rasher of bacon". To this day, whenever there is a storm coming, I smell bacon frying!
thanks kay susan! nice story, too!
Beautiful job isay. I love the details on their pajamas. :0)
I hope you feel better soon!

Nice illo and story too!
I can't imagine your missing Illustration Friday:-). A lovely illo and warm story:-)...And I hope you feel better by now:-). Take care!
thanks miragee-i have errands to do just now but i am excited to see what you have shared this week!
This a charming drawing that brings back some memories for me too. In the summers, we kids practically lived in the woods. We built forts and little lean-to's and, when it rained, we'd all huddle together like this, telling stories until it stopped. Thanks for rekindling this memory! :)
How lovely to relive childhood memories in your illustrations. This is tender and endearing. Your banner is quite impressive!
I hope you feel better soon, Isay...I think you and I have the same cold and the same weather! The wind is really howling here and the rain has started again..enough! I love your drawing and I love the story that goes with it. Those kinds of memories are so nice to return to...it's really like taking a trip back in time. Thanks for sharing both the illo and the story with us...I would have missed you if you didn't post this week:>
Reading your story makes me realize that I don't know all that much about cold... since I grew up in California and still live in the "sunbelt"... Your three sisters look cozy in their cave... and I love the "winter" banner... I'd appreciate clues/url on how to do a custom banner on blogger! :-)
i think this one is among the best illos you made thus far! i love it, the little girls faces, and everything!
This is a wonderful illustration Isay, and your stories are always delightful! Hope you're feeling better now...?
