Broken
The original illustration is in colored pencil and is not yet finished. I decided it would be easy to make another version in Photoshop for my entry to IF and I have worked on them for two hours. The original concept of this illustration is really sweet, but since the topic this week is broken that i thought i'll make up a story about it....and made them look like pictures that were torn in halves.
I have to rest now and I’ll be back some hours later, and by then I hope to see the other entries. I have watched corpse bride today and i like it so much!

I really like this illustration
Great for the topic
Nice colors
Very nice series telling the story
This is a lovely narrative series, Isay. I know what you mean about the time...even the smallest drawings seem to take longer than you would think! Good work:>
Isay, this makes a really nice illustrated page.
well hmm broken relationships.. sad. but i take it as a learning experience.. to be better persons, both sides.
and bout your illo.. very cute 8) lovely quote too.
Very cute--like the tears splitting them. Great technique.
Cute illo and nice words !
Very nice (sad) story told through three images.Well done.
Good idea and beautifully portrayed.
Makes me sad...
These are great Isay - love the approach and the poem. Nice!
Almost everything can be broken, but often can be mended. I am hoping your young lovers will find a way to repair the rift. Lovely illo and bittersweet thoughts.
I like this. It's like looking through an old photo album with keepsakes.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS! I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR VISITING MY BLOG AND EVEN LEAVING SOME COMMENTS.
I HAVE BEEN BUSY LAST WEEKEND AND IS NOT FEELING WELL AT THE SAME TIME THAT AS USUAL, I WAS NOT ABLE TO THANK EACH ONE OF YOU ALTHOUGH I HAVE DONE VISITING EACH OF YOUR OWN BLOG AND ENJOYED YOUR ENTRIES, TOO. I HOPE YOU ALL HAD A NICE HALOWEEN.
Cute illo and great verse to accompany it!
I'm with Carla - what I got straight away from this was a sense of narrative continuity through the three pictures. In a sense, they represent a beginning, a middle and an end.
While I just love them entirely as pictures, there are some expert touches worth noting: the hands on either side of the tear in the first picture, the split horizon in the second and the lightning-struck tree split in the third (showing them branching out in different directions even while both taking in their personal misery), and the gradually fading smiles.
The colour choices across the three are also immaculate - Spring, Summer, Autumn...
I could go on - these are terrific and I feel for the characters, and it's clear that you do too - which is a lesson in itself to a lot of (non IF) artists, I think.
Is anyone else reminded of Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years when looking at this great illo? It's delightful.
thanks ange!
ian-wow!what you've said are exactly what's on my mind while i was doing it.
and flossy-p---ohh yahh i remember their love affair. two beautiful young lovers in their journey to adulthood....
