Dreams

When I was working as a part time, ambitious, independent wannabee artist while I was in college, I have learned that if I have to maintain a customer for my artworks, I should know how to compromise. I did have lots of ideas then but there were some customers that would not listen to my idea instead insisted on what they want. But, for some old customers who have seen my works, they were kind enough to trust my guts. I had only small time enterpreneurs because most big time companies would also go for well known artists who are more experienced and are exposed to marketing. I was glad then that I can earn some money for my needs although it did not went on for a longer time. I have mentioned this because I was thinking of all the colors I used for my drawings. I don’t think I dislike any color although I have favorite ones that I used frequently but sometimes, depending on my moods.

One of my biggest dreams when I was growing up was to become a fashion designer. I love clothes and seeing them worn by fabulous models. I have even designed my own and during my younger years, my clothes would always be different not only in style, but for the bold colors that I have preferred. I don’t care about the color of my skin as long as I am comfortable, happy and can handle it. But of course, I never violated any dress code when invited in a party or whatever.

I have been drawing digitally - a collection of clothes in which I have said to myself that eventhough my dream did not come true, that I would satisfy myself in drawing them and make a whole collection for my future references. These are just three illustrations in my collection. I just added the third one and it's not yet finished. I hope you like them.

Ah, Isay, you have a great flair for design. I wonder, when you were little did you make the clothes for your own paper dolls? Even now I bet you could create a wonderful collection of paper dolls for fun and profit. Also there are magnetic sheets that you can print upon. Once you have created the doll and matching clothes, they can be stuck up on the fridge and the clothes can be changed each day!

I have one of me that my daughter made, with seven different outfits, including my hogwarts wizarding hat and robe and wand.

i think my niece have those magnetic sheets.

that is cool of your daughter, and i am sure she had made you so happy! hugs!

Ditto Ginger's comment! What a treasure your daughter would have if she was able to play with her mother's designs!

These are so elegant Isay! That is a wonderful idea of Ginger's to make paper dolls and clothes for them. You could also do a series of ATC's with your beautiful models and their outfits. I love the colors in both of these. Will you share more with us? Please :>>>>

Wow, Princess Collection 2001 is gorgeous. I read that you planned on making a flash movie for your illustrations and I was wondering, have you done many things in flash?

I've use flash sometimes, but only in school because I can't afford to buy the program. I did download a trial version though, but the trial period ran out before I finished my animation.

Anyway, you do wonderful work, thank you for the comments.

Great pics. Commercial art sucks- thats why I stopped doing animations for other people (advertising, short films) I got tired of arguing with people over things they didn't understand, and then have them be angry with me when the result wasn't what they expected.

These work really well together as a collection of pictures - like swap cards or similar (anyone remember swap cards?). The third one looks like she looking for an accompanying child, so maybe he or she will be along later? Your colour and design sense is exceptional!

yah somebody have suggested that-but i also made some other versions of it that is standing by...anyway, the third one has another woman on it(just finished it), but i thought it is should not be in my princess collection because it looks more like a evening gown.

thanks a lot ian!
