Summer

I was making another illustration when the new topic for IF came out and after thinking for some minutes and so, I thought I'd draw an illustration of my husband and myself while walking near a harbour. (you have to go back to home to see the other versions...)Why that idea? Because walking alone with him is one enjoyable moment for me. I would like to add some flowers, boats and playing children but it would take me ages to finish my illustration. I will continue working on it anyway.

Growing up in a tropical country it’s like summer everyday well, because it is warm most of the time and the sun shines so brightly. When I was younger and still single, summer is where I took my annual vacation from my job. I spend two weeks either having some time relaxing, enjoying the sun, being with friends, travelling, exploring new places and caves, eating ice cream and ice candy, going to fiestas, eating barbecue and drinking sago in the corner of the street, biking and feeling the cool air, and even almost touching the clouds while sitting on a running bus on the edge of a long road(that one I have another story to tell) or simply bonding with friends just outside our house under the sunlight or moonlight. When I got married, it is mostly sailing and having the opportunity to travel with my husband either on a business trip or simply a short time vacation ALONE together. He loves sailing a lot and eversince we got married, we spend a part of the summer sailing. We sail and stop from harbour to harbour and explore the place. We would walk around the harbour and window shop, meet new people, or we just eat ice cream while sitting on a big rock, admiring the view from the top of the hill wherein we can see the different kinds of boat, people talking, eating, cooking, drinking, playing cards, singing while sitting on their own boats. Sometimes we would park the boat on a deserted little island where it’s only us around and we’ll just lie down and listen to the waves or the calmness of the sea.(making love---maybe?????). Summer means gardening for me, also. It is hardwork but it makes me happy when I managed to make a plant grow or the flowers to bloom. It is during spring where colors of the leaves changes but summer makes the colors whole or solid. There is so much color during summer. I like the green colors of the trees and grass, the blue skies, and the deep blue ocean. Everything is beautiful. One advantage of living in another country where summer is really something to look forward to-is that it doesn’t get so warm like you would hate it..Unlike in my country of origin that you would wish you are so rich-that everything should be air conditioned if you are at home or working in the office because you would sweat a lot and you would wish you are not working and just sitting near the beach all the time.
